Ode to Fitness

Ode to fitness
By David Smyth
I ride my bike from town to townBy hoards of smiling facesMy bpm goes up and downAs my heart’s put through its paces
I pump my legs and feel the burnI’m living determinationAt break neck speed I take the turnsI seek fat extermination
I swallow bugs and spit them outI swig water from my bottleA million swears will leave my mouthAs I ramp up on the throttle
My arm gets numb my breath gets thinMy feet slip of the pedalI slam into an open binJust three minutes from the medal
I see the light and wish I’d soughtA life less dull and dryBut as it is, my final thoughtIs what’s my bmi?
I never had a cushy jobDesks won’t make you feel aliveBut I wish I’d been that brain dead slobThey live ‘till sixty five

Ultimate Rock Climbing

WOW! This was one of the coolest expereinces through my movement class! We went actual, real rock type, climbing. I had a total of 6 climbs. Boy, was a tired by my last climb. The sun was quite grueling. The helpers were sooo nice and just so excited to share with us their knowledge and experences. We owe a lot to them, taking time off work to come help us climb. My most exciting climb was a rock called virtigo. It was basically a vertical climb. I struggled real bad in the beginning but kept trying and with a little encourgement from my friends I made it to the top. It was my most triumphant climb. Everyone on this trip was sooo encouraging and I was very thankful to have this experience with so many cool friends. Can't wait to do it again!

Hiking

Well this was quite a treat and a lot harder then I though the hike was going to be. It was basically up hill for an hour plus. This climb defiantely told me i needed to get in shape. Although i thought i was pretty consistent on the way up. Instead of taking giants steps towards the hill i took small quick steps to save my energy. i thought it worked quite well. Everyone did i thought really well. It was a beautiful site when we got to the top. I would climb only again to see the emaculate view. Down hill wasn't my favorite only because i thought i was going to fall and hurt myself. I had good shoes on its just the going down isn't my favorite. Once we were down at teh bottom the car was quite nice.

EHS rock climb.

I felt pretty much in my element for the rock climb. I don't mind hights and i've rock climbed before. I knew how to tie the ropes but it was a nice refresher from a well trained rock climber. I started the climb with the vertical straight which was pretty easy. Then I tried the next part which had a harder element to it. Thirdly i tried what i thought was the hardest climb because gravity was pulling you down ward because of the way the wall was tilted so it was fun having to learn how to climb in a different way. I touched the last peg on the top but soon felt because my arms felt like jello. This climb made me excited to do a real climb and i'm hoping i do well. Again I would totally climb in my own time. Everyone else did really well too!
